Easter Egg Quotations
Easter Eggs are a symbol of new life, such as the resurrection. However, the ceremony of giving out eggs is more closely related to the Vernal Equinox celebrations and were incorporated into Christian practices.
Ancient Persians painted eggs for Nowrooz (New Year's celebration that was celebrated on the Vernal Equinox--first day of Spring). Jewish Passover Seder is a hard-boiled egg dipped in salt water to symbolize new life. Pre-Christian Saxons had a Spring goddess called Eostre, whose feast was celebrated on the Vernal Equinox. Eostre was associated with eggs, so the rebirth of the land in Spring was associated with eggs.
However, there is another connection of Christianity and Easter Eggs, particularly that of Catholics. In the past, Lent was celebrated by abstaining not only from meat, but also milk and eggs. Thus when Easter finally arrived a feast of eggs was served. Below you'll find some quotations about these delicious treats.
They have Easter egg hunts in Philadelphia, and if the kids don’t find the eggs, they get booed.
I agree. You don't want it to look boring. It's [the Easter egg] got to look good otherwise it's just like every other chocolate. And size does matter when it comes to the egg, as that's what Easter eggs are all about.
It's actually really, really nice. It's got a unique taste. Plus, the gift of a wee box of chocolates you get with the egg is really good. It's a good present.
Easter eggs are probably the weirdest part about this great holiday. Rabbits laying eggs and then children run around finding them and eating them thinking that they are chocolate.
Easter eggs are my favorite part about the holiday. Chop them up and put them in salad, eat them plain, or make them deviled. Whatever you do to them, I'll eat them!
What happens to all the eggs the rest of the year?
Every year the stupid rabbit lays eggs in my yard and every year I forget they're there and step on them.
Why are Easter Eggs the same size as regular chicken eggs? You'd think that something as large as the Easter Bunny would lay eggs the size of an Ostrich's.
A rabbit the size of a human that lays chicken eggs. Yeah, that sounds believable.
Do children not realize that they pick up the very same eggs that they colored just two days before?
